Government extends SEISS
Back in May the government announced that it would once again offer help to the self-employed work force. Eligible workers will be able to claim a second and final grant, worth 70% of average monthly profits over the last 3 years, for three months. This grant will be capped at £6570.
If you are eligible for the second and final grant, and your business has been adversely affected on or after 14th July 2020 you’ll be able to make a claim from 17th August 2020. You can make a claim for the second grant if you’re eligible, even if you did not make a claim for the first grant.
Am I Eligible For the Second Grant?
The government has stated that you are only eligible for the second grant if your business has been adversely affected by COVID-19 after 14th July. But what does this mean? A business has been adversely affected if:
you’re unable to work because you:
are shielding
are self-isolating
are on sick leave because of coronavirus
have caring responsibilities because of coronavirus
you’ve had to scale down, temporarily stop trading or incurred additional costs because:
your supply chain has been interrupted
you have fewer or no customers or clients
your staff are unable to come in to work
one or more of your contracts have been cancelled
you had to buy protective equipment so you could trade following social distancing rules
